Full description
Under the provisions of the Lunacy Act, the Master in Lunacy was required to undertake the general care and management of the estates of all insane persons in Victoria.
The Master was required to maintain all proceeds from the estates of insane persons in the Lunatic Patients Trust Fund, and that they were placed to the credit of the particular patient from whose estate the funds were received. The funds from a patients estate were used to finance their ongoing treatment as the Master saw fit.
This series consists of a journal of transactions relating to the accounts from patients estates, which were consolidated to form the Lunatic Patients Estate Fund. For each patients account, ongoing details of credits and debits to the account are entered
Details are summarised in VPRS 11334 Trust Fund Ledgers.
