McLeod Prison Farm (also known as French Island Reformatory Prison, and McLeod Training Centre) opened in 1916 as a Reformatory Prison under the provisions of the Indeterminate Sentences Act 1907. It closed in 1975.

This series is the Superintendents Diary (the highest prison officer in a Reformatory Prison, the equivalent of the Governor in other penal establishments). It contains short daily reports from the Superintendent. Routine entries record prisoner numbers at musters, details of release and reception of prisoners, duties performed by prison warders, any leave taken by warders, inspections and visits from agencies such as the Indeterminate Sentences Board (a precursor to the Adult Parole Board).
