Full description

This series was created by the Land Branch of the Colonial Secretarys Office (VA 856), the Department of Crown Lands (VA 2878) and the Department of Crown Lands and Survey (VA 538) respectively.

The Name Index to the Register of Crown Grants provides a complete listing of Crown Grantees for the date range covered. The index gives volume and page number references to VPRS 11866 Register of Crown Grants.

Separate volumes were created for Grantees of town and country lands. Unit No. 4 of this series contains entries for both town and country land grantees and gives references to Books A, B and C which later became known as Books D, E and F respectively; thus references to Book A relate to Book D, references to Book B should be read as Book E, etc.. Entries in this series were made in alphabetical order by the Grantees name.
