This series is the set of minutes maintained by the departmental representative on the Special Education Committee.

The Special Education Committee was established primarily to provide policy and program advice on the Commonwealth Government's Special Education Program.

The Committee had the following responsibilities with respect to the Victorian Department of Education:

1). Make recommendations to State and Territory Ministers of Education on the allocation of funds to government and non-government agencies under the Severely Handicapped Children's and Children in Residential Institutions Programs.

2). Make recommendations to State and Territory Ministers for Education on the allocation of funds to government schools and agencies under the Early Special Education Program.
