VPRS 11726 Register of General Correspondence, Annual Single Number System

Full description

This record series constitutes the register of Department of State Forests General Correspondence Files, Annual Single Number System (VPRS 11563) during the period 1920-1970. The register was in the form of cards.

Until 1938 the register included the following information in relation to correspondence received:
* subject name
* number of letter (annual single number)
* date of letter
* date of registration
* file to which letter was attached
* from whom letter received
* to whom letter referred
* precis of subject matter

By 1939 the style of entry in the register had altered. The cards now included the following information:
* subject name
* from whom letter was sent
* address of correspondent
* file number
* date of correspondence
* particulars of letter.

By 1959 the style of entry in the register had altered again. The cards now included the following information:
* subject name
* from whom letter was sent
* file number
* particulars of letter.
