This series was a microfiche index created by Public Record Office Victoria. It indexed the names of passengers documented in VPRS 7666 and was placed in PROV Reading Rooms to assist public users. (It is currently available for purchase; refer to www.prov.vic.gov.au/publications for details.) VPRS 7666 is a microfiche copy of the inward overseas passenger lists for vessels arriving from British ports spanning the period 1852-1923, however, this microfiche index only indexed lists created until 1899.

Entries in this index record the name of the passenger, age, arrival date (year/month only) and the name of the vessel. Also recorded is the number of the fiche in VPRS 7666 that contains the list for the vessel and the page number within that list that contains the entry for the passenger.

This microfiche was progressively released. The first release of the index (for the period 1852 - 1859) occurred in June 1998.
