VPRS 11447 Record of School Sites

The function of this series is unknown. The series was transferred from the Education History Unit of the Department of Education where it was no longer part of any formal record keeping system.

At some point all schools were allocated a school number. The numbers for existing schools were allocated alphabetically by school name. After this point, school numbers were allocated sequentially as schools were established.

The record has provision to include four sites per page, but there are many blank spaces. Each site is illustrated with a site plan (including measurements, adjoining roads, easements), and lists a number, the school name, the parish, county, and town that the site is located in, and a gazette date. In some instances, the notice from the Government Gazette has been cut out and affixed to the page in the register.
