Full description

The Student Resource Index (SRI) was used to develop the global budget, introduced from the beginning of 1995, as a new basis for the funding of schools based on enrolment levels and the learning characteristics of students.

Files found in this series include minutes of the Principals Consultative Committee, minutes of the SRI Management Steering Committee, and a draft report of the SRI Project Team.

The Principals Consultative Committee was an advisory group to the Schools Of The Future Implementation Committee (SOFIC) and was expected to provide recommendations on the basis of funding for schools, and the equitable distribution of available resources among schools, with recommendations directed through SOFIC to the Director and the Minister.

The SRI Management Steering Committee was created to oversee the conceptual framework for the development of the SRI, as well as policy objectives and parameters, and to consult with school communities.

The SRI Project Team draft report outlines the methodology used, budget resources, development of a draft framework, core funding issues, non-English speaking background students, disabilities and impairments, school characteristics, and an implementation strategy for the SRI.
