Full description

This series recorded the attachment of registered correspondence to existing files. Inward letters were registered in annual single number sequence. It appears that the files were arranged according to a fractional number, most probably based on the subject classification. The Attachment Book, referred to as a Run Up Book, provided reference to relevant file number as well as subsequent attachment/s. A few letters were shown to be attached to State Rivers and Water Supply Commission correspondence.

The P1 consignment of this series comprises the only extant control record for correspondence received by the Victorian Water Supply Department (VA 2787). No other Victorian Water Supply control records are available and the controlled records are no longer in their original order. It would appear that the Victorian Water Supply Department maintained the register until the formal merger of the Department and its remaining staff with the State Rivers and Water Supply Commission (VA 723, 1906-1984) in 1909.
