The Australian Bicentennial Authority was established in April 1979 by the Commonwealth, State and Territory Governments to develop, promote and co-ordinate a national program of events to commemorate Australias Bicentenary.

The Victoria Council was appointed in 1986 by the Premier to co-operate closely with the Australian Bicentennial Authority.

This series contains records related to the development and implementation of bi-centennial projects and events.

This collection of records accumulated by the Victoria Council consists mainly of :
