This series recorded outward letters and reports written by the Engineer of the Rodney Irrigation and Water Supply Trust (from 1906, the Rodney Irrigation District of the State Rivers and Water Supply Commission - VA 723).

The exact responsibilities of Trust Engineer have not been researched. However, from 1906 the District Engineer was effectively the officer in charge of the District.

The Trust Engineer submitted regular reports to the Commissioners of the Trust. The reports were tabled at the Commissioners meetings and read into the minutes, see VPRS 11169 Minute Books [Rodney Irrigation and Water Supply Trust].

From 1906 the District Engineer was required to furnish regular reports to the State Rivers and Water Supply Commission. The District's copies of these reports were kept in this series. The original copies of the reports were filed into the central registry general correspondence files, later serialised as VPRS 3844 General Correspondence Files (Alphabetically Re-arranged Inactive Portion of VPRS 6008 - pre 1928 Files), Single Number System of the State Rivers and Water Supply Commission. The reports were also tabled at meetings of the Commission and read into the Commission's minutes, VPRS 9480 Minute Books.
