These records were created by the Deputy Registrars assigned to various districts throughout Victoria and metropolitan Melbourne.

Details are captured for each marriage, including relevant dates, addresses, parents' names and other identifying details.

In 1959, the separate registration offices for country and metropolitan births, deaths and marriages ceased to operate.
