The volumes in this series consist of letter-press books containing the copies of outwards correspondence sent by the Teachers and Schools Registration Board (VA 2309) and, from 1910, the Council of Public Education (VA 2310).

Correspondence is mainly with the schools and teachers and relates to the registration of schools and teachers outside the State system. This correspondence covers enquiries regarding the requirements for registration and correspondence related to the actual registration process. Other correspondence relates to the inspection of schools for the purposes of determining the suitability of premises for use as a school and with the appointment of members of the Board and Council.

The units in the VPRS 10299/P1 consignment were previously registered as VPRS 10301 Letter Books.
