Full description
During Voyage 1 of the 2023/24 season, RSV Nuyina undertook a series of ice-breaking trials to quantify the performance of the new ice-breaking vessel. This analysis was undertaken by a specialist team from The Hamburg Ship Model Basin, otherwise known as HSVA. As part of this work, the specialist team conducting the analysis took a series of sea ice measurements. This data set contains the sea ice measurements undertaken during these trials, this included data gathered from a vessel mounted electro-magnetic device (EM31), data gathered from core samples (ice thickness, snow thickness, flexural strength, air temperature, snow temperature, water temperature, water salinity) and ice thickness photos taken from the vessel during transits.
