Brief description 80% of infections are the result of bacteria growing as a biofilm. It can require up to 1000x's the normal antibiotic concentration to kill a biofilm. When the bacteria disperse from the biofilm, they become antibiotic sensitive again. Our team has identified a strategy that controls biofilm dispersal. This project will design and test novel compounds that disperse biofilms so that they can be killed by the host immune response or by antibiotic treatment.
