The University of the Sunshine Coast Herbarium houses a collection of plant specimens donated by the Queensland Forestry Research Institute, now housed in a purpose-built space within the Library.

The herbarium collection forms the basis for a regional reference collection of plants , the majority of which are endemic to Queensland. The herbarium consists of c.10,000 plant specimens and provides valuable historical records of plant distributions.
