Brief description Differentiation of embryonic stem cells into differentiated states such as neurons requires complex changes in a cell's post-transcriptional gene regulation. The Hu family of proteins likely plays a critical role in this regulation, as they can bind message untranslated regions and change whether these messages ultimately make protein products or not. In this application we investigate the function of the Hu proteins in regulating specific mRNAs that we have recently identified.
