Tumut Police Station was established after 11 August 1862 and by 1 December 1863 in the Murray District. The Head Station for the Murray District to which Tumut reported was Albury. In 1863 Tumut had a staff of one mounted sergeant and two mounted constables plus two foot constables. (1) Tumut had a police station built in 1890 worth £940 as well as a lock-up and quarters built in 1885 worth £700. (2) In 2007 it was located in the Cootamundra Local Area Command, in the Southern Region. Its address in 2007 was 20 Wynyard Street, Tumut. (3) Endnotes(1) Police.
