Brief description

Gentry transects were established to monitor the vegetation abundance, cover and structure of the mid-stratum and subordinate stratum of the core 1 ha plot in the Tumbarumba Wet Eucalypt site in 2015.

Lineage

Gentry surveys were conducted using the methodology outline in theTERN vegetation monitoring protocols.
Mid-Stratum Gentry survey
Stems that were less than 10 cm and greater than 1 cm diameter at breast height (DBH) and greater than 1.5 m in height were assessed in 6 transects, 50 m long and 2 m wide.
Sub-Stratum Gentry survey
Plants that were less than 1.5 m high but greater than 10 cm in height and DBH less than 1 cm were assessed in 6 transects, 50 m long and 10 quadrats (1 m x 1 m) per transect. The dominant grass, herb and woody species were recorded. The height of plants in the sub-strata were recorded, along with the percentage cover of dominant species and entire group for the grass, herb and woody species separately.
