Brief description
Tropical cyclones are low pressure systems that form over warm tropical waters and have gale force winds. The data depict the past, recent and predicted track and movement of a cyclone. The forecast times are at 24 and 48 hours from the time of issue. Areas of uncertainty indicate possible tracks over the forecast period. The extent and intensity of damaging winds (gale, storm and hurricane-force) at 0, 24 and 48 hour are also shown. The data are issued at a similar frequency to the Bureau of cyclone advice, although they may not be available if warnings are hourly. In special circumstances, forecasts up to 72 hours may be issued for emergency management agencies.User Contributed Tags
