Brief description Extraordinarily high rates of dementia are evident in survivors of intracerebral haemorrhage (ICH), the most serious form of stroke. This project will determine in 400 subjects from the TRIDENT trial, whether over a 2-year period, the “triple pill’ for intense blood pressure lowering, can reduce memory and cognitive decline in comparison to standard care. A secondary aim will be to examine the key mediators of cognitive decline using brain scanning markers of small vessel disease.
