The data collected from these responses was used to analyse the effect of preparation on the perception of harmonic dissonance and tonal modulation in Western listeners. This dataset contains one excel spreadsheet with the quantitative and qualitative data and surrounding data information. Full description

Fifty-eight participants (29 female, 29 male) were asked to rate the valence, arousal, stability and tension of 25 short excerpts of music. The participants were also asked to respond to a short answer question about their listening experience.
