Full description
Core GC04, was collected from the southeastern side of the New Caledonian Basin (22.99965 S, 166.150716 E). The age of the sediment at each sample depth was determined by correlating oxygen isotopes to the Martinson et al. (1987) age model. This information can then be used to infer sedimentation rates. The results indicate that core GC04 is characterised by slow sedimentation rates. The average sedimentation rate is 1.46cm/kyr. The minimum sedimentation rate is ~0.03cm/Kyr, occurring at around MIS 5c and maximum ~4cm/Ka occurring around MIS 5e.Lineage

Statement: Gravity core. The age of the sediment at each sample depth was determined by correlating oxygen isotopes to the Martinson et al. (1987) age model using the Macintosh "AnalySeries" Time-series Program (Paillard et al. 1996).
Age estimates are provided for every 2cm of the core down to a depth of 140cm.
Parameters: Core depth (cm), time (ka BP).
