Telecommunications in New Developments

Brief description

These datasets are supplied by carriers and provide information about the new developments they have contracted to service, including geo-spatial information about the location and boundaries of the development. The data is presented on the National Map by the [Department of Communications and the Arts' website](https://www.communications.gov.au/what-we-do/internet/competition-broadband/telecommunications-new-developments-map).

The map will help developers to locate carriers operating nearby networks, assist carriers to better co-ordinate the provision of infrastructure and it enables consumers and people buying in new developments to check who is servicing their development.

The new developments map supports the Government’s policy for the provision of telecommunications infrastructure in new developments. The policy encourages efficiency and innovation in service provision by fostering competition between network providers.
