Brief description

Ben Lomond AWS - part of the Tasmanian Hydro-Meteorological Sensor Web. Observed Phenomena: Solar Radiation, Air Temperature, Wind Speed, Wind Direction, Rainfall Rate, Rainfall Today, Atmospheric Pressure, Air Humidity. This dataset collection is produced using a combination of two instruments. The elevation of the site where this sensor is located places it as the second highest weather station in Tasmania. The location of the sensor is adjacent to the Ben Lomond ski fields. In an example of the way the sensor web can be re-purposed, the temperature and relative humidity figures can be used to calculate the wet bulb temperature at the site. The most important factor for snow making conditions is the wet bulb temperature.

Notes

This dataset currently refers to data access services that are based at the CSIRO (www.csiro.au URLs). As part of the project to make these datasets discoverable via RDA, the data access services will be moved to TPAC. When that work is completed (scheduled for February 2012) the URLs and any other relevant information will be updated to reflect the new location of the data access services.

Data time period: 04 08 2010 to 05 08 2011
