Brief description
The Davis weather stations include two components: the Integrated Sensor Suite (ISS) which houses and manages the external sensor array; and the console which provides the user interface, data display, A/D conversion, and calculations. The ISS and Vantage Pro console communicate via an FCC-certified, license-free transmitter and receiver. Full details can be found in the instrument specification available from Davis, including measurement ranges and accuracy ranges. The data collected by these instruments is transmitted over the 3G mobile network, to Powercom’s Datacall Server. The logger is powered by solar panels and a rechargeable battery. The voltage of the battery and the strength of the 3G signal is also available as a time-series. The data is subsequently retrieved via the Datacall Server using the SOAP protocol and stored in a Postgres PostGIS database where it is made publicly available using a Sensor Observation Service that was created by 52 Degrees North. There are no records available regarding the recalibration of this instrument. Currently there is no automated Quality Assurance/Quality Correction process in place.Delivery method
