Brief description My research has been at the international forefront in understanding how dysregulation of sphingolipids (a type of molecules present in all cells) contributes to cancer and other diseases, and how this can be targeted for therapeutic benefit. My proposal details studies to understand how sphingolipid metabolism is altered in disease, applied approaches to develop small molecule inhibitors as potential anti-cancer therapeutics, and assessment of these findings in advanced pre-clinical models.
