Brief description New medicines are urgently needed for infectious diseases due to widespread resistance to many traditional antibiotics. This research will develop and apply state-of-the-art techniques to measure metabolism in parasites and bacteria, and reveal how drugs inhibit metabolic pathways in these microorganisms. This will provide important information about how current drugs work, and assist with the development of new medicines for infectious diseases.
