Sutherland Public School in the County of Cumberland opened in 1887. (1)

In 1887 the establishment of a public school required a minimum of 20 students. In 1926 it became a Public and Commercial School. Many commercial schools offered vocational training primarily for boys. In 1928 Sutherland became an Intermediate High School which was a school providing both primary and secondary education. In 1960 it reverted to Sutherland Public School. (2)

As of 2014 Sutherland Public School was still open. (3)
