Brief description
Surveyor SPR Luke Carey of the Australian Defence Force carried out a number of surveys at The Isthmus, Macquarie Island in March 2019. The main aim was to help facilitate safe resupply operations at Macquarie Island station in anticipation of new watercraft to be introduced with RSV Nuyina. This meant carrying out terrestrial surveys of beach landing sites to ensure overlap between bathymetric data and the terrestrial survey data captured in March 2018. The latter dataset is described by the metadata record with ID survey_macquarie_march2018. Seven beach landing sites sites were designated by the Royal Australian Navy's hydrographic survey team (Project 5093).Also included in the survey were secondary tasks for the Australian Antarctic Division's Project 5109, expanding on the terrestrial surveys conducted in March 2018.
The final survey data is in 12da, dwg and csv formats. The raw data is included in the dataset.
Details about the surveys are given in a survey report.
