Survey report for Casey Station, 1981, by the wintering surveyor, GW Petschack.

Details
During the 1981 changeover period conduct such survey work as is necessary toward the construction of the new Casey station.

After the changeover period survey/navigational support is to be provided for the glaciology program for which the main task is a traverse to be run east from the existing IAGP route at latitude 69 degrees south following the line of the 1980 traverse.

1) Autumn traverse: Re-measurement along the established IAGP route and establishment of outlying fuel stores for later use.
2) Winter traverse(s): Further glaciology work on the existing Law Dome net.
3) Spring/Summer traverse: Re-measurement along the 1980 traverse route set along the 69th parallel, with JMR fixes, strain measurements, core sampling and gravity readings.
