Full description

Stewarts Brook Provisional School was established in January 1884. Provisional Schools were established in areas where at least fifteen children, but fewer than the number required for a Public School, could be expected to attend. Parents provided the building and furniture, while the Department of Education paid the teacher and supplied books and equipment. The Provisional School at Stewart's Brook was re-established in February 1888. REFERENCE:
