This map of the Australian area shows the present day spreading rates of the oceanic lithosphere. The spreading rates are based on computing stage rotations from our set of finite rotations and distance and age from our seafloor spreading isochrons.Lineage
Statement: Grey areas indicate regions that are floored by continental or transitional crust or areas where the age or nature of the crust is unknown. Resolution = 6 minute x 6 minute
Statement: Magnetometer data collected from ship track data is interpolated to densely spaced grids using a computer program Intertec developed at the University of Sydney.
