Full description
This exhibition brings together painting elements and spatialized sound composition to create a spatio-temporal complexity of experience. Recent examples in this field include a 20 year retrospective of the work of Steve Roden at the Armory Center for the Arts in Pasadena which traced visual and sound art relationships. This exhibition was supported by an Arts Victoria International Export and Touring grant.
The installation was exhibited at the prestigious gallery e/static in Turin Italy, a gallery whose artist roster reads like a who's who of international first and second generation sound artists are presented, including Christina Kubisch, Steve Roden, Dominique Petitgand, Rolf Julius and Hans Peter Kuhn.
This exhibition sought to bring together painting and sound components in novel ways to create a complex spatial and temporal experience. The result was that an audience's sense of experiencing time and space conjunctions was made apparent throught he acts of framing sound with painting and painting with sound, thereby conflating spatio-visual and audio-temporal modes of experiencing in order to make the experience of experiencing apparent.
