Hydrographic sections were also carried out with the CTD across the Leeuwin Current. 45 XBTs were dropped on the transect from south of Tasmania to Cape Leeuwin at approximately 30 nm intervals and at each drop seawater samples were collected and frozen for subsequent analysis for phosphate, nitrate and silicate. Thirty salinity samples were collected and twelve samples were filtered for estimation of chloraphyll a.
