Full description
This record contains pigment data collected at 53 CTD stations on the Southern Surveyor cruise SS 11/95 in the oceanic waters between 40 and 53 deg south to the east of Tasmania. Eight of these stations were used in an intercomparison pigment study with Japanese scientists from JAMSTEC.At 10 of these stations samples were collected to determine particulate and dissolved absorption coefficients. There were also 15 samples collected from the outflow of the thermosalinography and analysed for pigments.Pigments were also analysed during 7 grazing dilution experiments, 7 sizre fractionation experiments and 7 deployments of free-floating sediment traps. The data were collected to determine the bio-optical charateristics of this region. The data can be used for Ocean Colour and CDOM sensor validation. Parameters measured are the concentration of chlorophyll and carotenoid pigments and the absorption coefficient for dissolved (CDOM) particulate (a/p) and detrital or non-algal (a/d) components of the water column.Lineage
