Statement: The data set was derived from a hardcopy map, which involved three main processes. These were: 1, The hardcopy map was scanned and saved as a TIF image. 2, The image of the hardcopy map was geo-referenced using Microstation and a similarity transformation. The image was fitted to the Vestfold Hills shoreline data using a visual best-fit approach. Using the geo-referenced image, the spot height points were digitised. 3, The sounding data were then imported into the Arc/Info coverage format and structured to conform with the Australian Antarctic Division's Spatial Data Model. This spatial data model has since been superseded by the SCAR Feature Catalogue (refer to link below) and the attribute data have been reformatted accordingly. Using the geo-referenced image the points were tagged with their respective heights. Each sounding feature has the DQI number 185. Use this DQI number to search for the Quality Information Record about the features (refer to link below). Enter the DQI number as the Qinfo id and start the search.
