Land Resources of Fernvale Esk and Avoca Vale, South East Queensland - SEQE - This dataset is a Soil Profile Class and land suitability survey of the Fernvale, Esk and Avoca Vale area in South East Queensland. The mapping covers parts of the Blackbutt, Lowood, Mount Halen and Nanango 1: 50,000 map sheets (9344-3, 9443-3, 9343-2, 9344-4) and was completed in 2017. The mapping is at a scale of 1: 50,000 and 46 Soil Profile Classes were identified. 308 sites were described using free-survey techniques. This project is a supplement to the neighbouring Brisbane Valley soil survey (SALI Project Code BVL).
Soil and Land Resources of the Logan and Albert Rivers Catchment, South East Queensland - LARA - This dataset is a Soil Profile Class and land suitability survey of the southern portions of the Logan and Albert Rivers Catchment area in South East Queensland based on 1496 individual observations. The mapping covers parts of the Rathdowney, Grevillia, Woodenbong, Mount Alford, Ipswich, Bromelton, Tyalgum, Canungra, Tamborine and Beenleigh 1:50,000 key map sheets (9441-1, 9441-2, 9441-3, 9441-4, 9442-1, 9442-2, 9541-3, 9541-4, 9542-3, 9542-4) and was completed in 2019. The mapping is at a scale of 1:50,000 and 93 Soil Profile Classes (with 9 variants and 5 phases) were identified.
Soil and land suitability of the alluvial flats of the Byee area, South East Queensland - IPB - This dataset is a Soil Profile Class and land suitability survey of the Byee area in the Burnett-Mary, South East Queensland. The mapping covers part of the Murgon 1: 50,000 map sheet (9245-1) and was completed in 1979. The mapping is at a scale of 1: 50,000 and 8 Soil Profile Classes were identified. The landscape was assessed using the traverse survey method.

The mapping covers parts of the Gin Gin, Rosedale, Kolan and Yandaran 1: 50,000 map sheets (9248-2, 9248-4, 9348-3, 9348-4) and was completed in 2019. The mapping is at a scale of 1: 50,000 and 86 Soil Profile Classes were identified.
Soils and Land Resources of Lake Cootharaba Catchment, South East Queensland - NOOP - This dataset is a Soil Profile Class and land suitability survey of the Lake Cootharaba catchment in South East Queensland. The mapping covers parts of the Cooloola, Cooroy, Laguna Bay and Wolvi 1: 50,000 map sheets (9545-4, 9445-2, 9545-3, 9445-1) and was completed in 2015. The mapping is at a scale of 1: 50,000 and 30 Soil Profile Classes were identified. 272 sites were assessed using the free survey method.

Soils - High intensity soil mapping of sugarcane growing areas between Babinda and Miriwinni in the lower Russell River Catchment, North Queensland - RUSS - Sugarcane farms the Wet Tropics of Far North Queensland have been identified as a significant source of dissolved inorganic nitrogen (DIN), linked with deleterious impacts on the Great Barrier Reef. While the industry best practice, 'SIX EASY STEPS', recommends fertiliser applications be based on soil attributes, adoption has been hampered by a lack of suitability scaled soil information. Production of conventional production of reliable, high intensity soil survey is both time consuming and expensive. This 2000 ha pilot in the Babinda Swamp, trialled a hybrid mapping approach, using Electromagnetic Induction (EMI), combined with conventional soil survey. The project aimed to develop a streamlined, and consistent approach for producing reliable, high intensity soil information to support practice change in catchments experiencing high DIN losses. Electromagnetic induction (EMI) data was collected cross the project area, cleaned, normalised, and processed into a single EMI mosaic dataset. Unique mapping areas (UMA) were developed based on the EMI mosaic, Digital Elevation Model (DEM), and air photos. These UMA's were investigated using conventional soil survey techniques to identify corresponding soil types and other agronomically important chemical, physical and landscape attributes.This project was funded by the federal government though the Reef Foundation and was jointly delivered by theDepartment of Natural Resources and Mines, Manufacturing and Regional and Rural Development requests’ soils team and Jaragun Ecoservices. Outputs include the high intensity, 1: 10,000 scale polygonal soil mapping with accompanying soil attribute layers: Soil Organic Carbon category, N Leaching potential category, N Denitrification potential category, P Sorption category, Cation Exchange Category, pH category, Al Saturation category, Ca Deficiency category, Surface Texture category, Subsoil Wetness category to 0.5m, Subsoil Wetness category to 1.0m and Flooding category.This dataset should be considered along the associated report which contains workflows and processes designed to help others emulate the process to deliver EMI based soil mapping with consistent processes and outputs.

The mapping covers parts of the Ipswich and Mount Lindesay 1: 100,000 map sheets (9442, 9441) and was completed in 1986. The mapping is at a scale of 1: 100,000 and 20 Soil Types were identified. The study area is approximately 53,610 ha from the proposed dam site near Croftby to the junction of Teviot Brook with the Logan River. Alluvia cover 5,087 ha while the remaining 48,523 ha are low to rolling hills on Walloon Coal Measures and Marburg Formation.

The mapping covers part of the Pittsworth 1: 50,000 map sheet (9242-4) and was completed in 1979. The mapping is at a scale of 1: 25,000 and 25 Soil Profile Classes and 5 soil types were identified. The soils were compared with those supporting grassy open forest and open woodland vegetation in the surrounding basaltic uplands region.

The mapping covers parts of the Goondiwindi and Warwick 1: 250,000 map sheets (SH56-1, SH56-2) and was completed in 1975. The mapping is at a scale of 1: 250,000 and 24 Soil Types were identified. The soils have been mapped at 1:250 000 scale. Part of this inventory includes a capability assessment and Land Systems survey (project code GRT_LS).

Nearly 2700 sites were assessed during 1992-1996 using the free survey method.

The mapping covers parts of the Buchanan, Charters Towers, Clarke River, Einasleigh, Hughenden, Ingham and Townsville 1: 250,000 map sheets (SF55-2, SE55-13, SE55-9, SF55-1, SE55-10, SE55-14, SF55-6) and was completed in 1999. The mapping is at a scale of 1: 250,000 and 77 Soil Profile Classes were identified. A combination of remote sensing techniques using 1:100 000 scale satellite images and 1:80 000 scale black and white aerial photography were used to delineate the mapping units which were mapped onto six 1:250 000 maps.

The mapping covers the Kilcummin 1: 100,000 map sheet (8453) and was completed in 1991. The mapping is at a scale of 1: 100,000 and 59 Soil Profile Classes were identified. This area was a priority choice for detailed land resource survey and land suitability assessment because of its variety of easily cultivated lands, marginal rainfall regime and position in an expanding cropping area.

Soils of the Roma area, Southern Queensland - ROM - This dataset is a Soil Profile Class and land suitability survey of the Roma area in Southern Queensland. The mapping covers the Roma1: 100,000 map sheet (8644) and was completed in 1989. The mapping is at a scale of 1: 100,000 and 57 Soil Profile Classes were identified. Approximately 1,200 sites were assessed using the free survey method.
Soils - Plane Creek sugar cane land suitability study, North Queensland - PCS - This dataset is a Soil Profile Class and land suitability survey of the Plane Creek sugar cane lands in Mackay-Whitsunday, North Queensland. The mapping covers parts of the Carmila and Mackay 1: 100,000 map sheets (8754, 8755) and was completed in 2010. The mapping is at a scale of 1: 100,000 and 34 Soil Profile Classes were identified. The study area adjoins the Mackay Study area at Alligator Creek north of Sarina, and extends southwards to Bluewater Creek between Flaggy Rock and Clairview. The eastern limit is the coastline and the western limit the Connors Range watershed.Please note that part of this survey has been superseded by SALI Project code 'SAR', 'Soil and land suitability survey of the Sarina area, North Queensland'. No report accompanies the remapped data.
Soils - reconnaissance survey of the soils of the Boonah-Beaudesert District, South East Queensland - ZAV - This dataset is a Soil Associations map of the Boonah-Beaudesert area in South East Queensland. The study area covers the Harrisville and Bromelton 1:50,000 map sheets (9442-2, 9442-3) and was completed in 1964.The mapping is at a scale of 1: 63,360 and 26 Soil Associations were identified. Soils - Soils of the Spyglass Beef Research Facility, North Queensland - SPY - This dataset describes a 1:50 000 land resource survey completed over 38 200 ha of the Spyglass Beef Research Station, north of Charters Towers, Queensland.The three main components of the survey included: 1) a conventional soil survey to provide detailed information on the soils and land resources of the research station, including maps, reports and analytical data, 2) a land suitability assessment of approximately 760 ha of land adjacent to the Burdekin River for potential irrigated agriculture activities (in prog) and 3) a Digital Soil Mapping (DSM) exercise to provide continuous spatial mapping of soil attributes relevant to grazing and animal research.32 soil types were identified and 324 sites described.
