Soils of Queensland agricultural research stations series

Brief description

This series contains maps of current and former agricultural research stations throughout Queensland. The mapping was completed by either Queensland Government or CSIRO soil scientists and is usually at 1:20,000 scale or better. Site data is also available for some of the mapping.

Land resource area survey of Hermitage Research Station - South East Queensland - CHR - This dataset is a soils map of the Hermitage Research Station in South East Queensland. The study area covers part of the Warwick (9341-4) 1:50,000 mapsheet. Approximately 229 hectares of land were mapped at 1:7920 scale during 1978. The free survey method was used, and eight soil series/phases were identified.
Soil survey of the CSIRO Samford Pasture Research Station, South East Queensland - ZDX - This dataset is a soils map of the former CSIRO Pasture Research Station in Samford, South East Queensland. The station operated from the late 1950s to 2002. The study area covers part of the Mena Creek (8062-1) 1:50,000 mapsheet. Approximately 175 hectares of land were mapped at 1:6,000 scale during 1960 using the traverse survey method, and eleven soil associations were identified.
Soil survey of the former Mareeba Agricultural College, Far North Queensland - ZMAC - This dataset describes the soils of the former Mareeba Agricultural College campus in Far North Queensland. The study area covers part of the Tolga (7963-1) 1:50,000 scale mapsheet. Approximately 51 hectares were mapped at 1:5000 scale during 1957. The traverse survey method was used, and fourteen soils were identified.

Soils - soils of the Biloela Research Station Queensland - BLS - This dataset describes a high intensity (1:5000) soil of the Biloela Research Station in the Callide Valley. The station covers approimatley 240ha. The aims of this project were to describe and map the soils of the research station and to comment on their homogeneity for experimentation. A comprehensive soils report allows precise comparison of the soils with those of the surrounding district serviced by the station. Six soil types were identified and are described in detail.

The study area covers part of the Harrisville (9442-3) 1:50,000 mapsheet. Approximately 467 hectares of land were mapped at 1:10,000 scale during 1989, extending the original 378 hectares mapped in 1985. The grid survey method was used, and seventeen soil profile classes were identified.Mutdapilly Research Station was closed in 2010 and the land sold. The research facilities were relocated to Gatton.
