Full description
This thesis was grounded in an extensive analysis of publicly available an do pen-source materials, and did not involve the collection of primary data from participants. The research focused on addressing a critical gap in Australia's understanding of veteran mental health—specifically the under-researched needs of female ADF veterans with regard to Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Given the policy implications of the study, the research was designed to ensure that all findings were substantiated by objective, verifiable, and publicly accessible evidence.
A mixed-methods approach was adopted across four distinct research phases:
- Systematic Literature Review
- Stakeholder and Policy Analysis
- Review of Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide (RCDVS)Submissions and Findings
- Synthesis and Thematic Analysis
These phases drew on diverse public sources including peer-reviewed journal articles, government policy documents, institutional reports, and the transcripts and findings from the RCDVS.
