Full description

This collection contains the historical baseline data for severe
convective wind potential from 1979-2023. The data is derived from
BARRA-R2 reanalysis which has a horizontal resolution of
approximately 12km. The yearly values are for [1979, 2023].
Lineage: Severe convective wind events are associated with three different
types:
* strong background winds
* steep lapse rate
* high moisture environment

From these three types, Brown and Dowdy (2023) found that first
occurs more frequently during the austral winter while the second
and third occur more frequently during the austral summer. They
also found that all three events are more likely to occur
between 12noon and 6pm.

This directory contains data on number of days in a year with
Total totals in three different ranges.
