Brief description Arguably the greatest challenge facing designing a more effective bionic eye occurs at the interface between the electrodes and the retina. We will investigate new ways of steering electricity that will allow stimulation to specifically target pre-determined areas and cells in the retina. While contributing directly to our knowledge of how the retina functions, the work will also be a critical enabler of improved vision processing and stimulation strategies in future generations of a bionic eye.
