Brief description

This data encompasses a set of biochemical parameter (iron, macronutrients, Chlorophyll-a, particulate organic matter and particulate exopolysaccharides) measured within East Antarctic first-year land-fast and pack sea ice from nine stations sampled along the Wilkes Land and King George V Land Coast during austral mid-late summer 2016/17.

This dataset supports the manuscript entitled "Iron distribution in East Antarctic summer sea ice: a potential contribution from glacial basal melt." to be submitted to the Journal of Geophysical Research on Jan/2020 by Luis Paulo Duprat and co-authors.

Lineage

Progress Code: completed
Statement: We could not obtain the particulate Fe (PFe) for the station Mertz 3 due to the contamination of the tray where samples were placed (it fell open onto the ground)

Notes

Purpose
This dataset describes the basis of the iron biogeochemistry (both in the dissolved and particulate fraction) and other key biological parameters within first-year sea ice. It enlarges the present body of sea-ice biogeochemical data obtained from coring and could further be used for modelling purposes.
