The voyage took place between the 21st and the 30th of March, 2015 (local time) departing from Hobart and sailing to the south-west of Tasmania (47 S, 142 E) and returning to Hobart. Instrumentation and sensors: The standard Underway (continuously recorded) dataset included Navigation (NAV), Thermosalinograph (TSG) and Meteorological (MET) data. NAV data includes GPS (Global Positioning System) measurements of latitude, longitude, ship's direction, speed and depth. MET data includes atmospheric temperature, humidity and pressure, wind speed and direction, and incident radiation intensity. Data from IMOS (Integrated Marine Observing System) sensors include port and starboard radiometers and pyranometers, wind speed; rain and rainrate. Depth data is no longer processed as part of the underway data set. The non QCed data is available in the underway data. The QCed depth data can be obtained from processed GSM dataset (centre beam) for this voyage. Please refer to the full list of attributes below.Navigation data was acquired using the Seapath 330 plus position and reference unit, which is also differentially corrected by data from the FUGRO marine cstar 3610 receiver. The Meteorological data consists of two port/starboard relative humidity and temperature sensors, vane type wind sensor, licor light sensor and a barometer. Thermosalinograph data is acquired with a Seabird SBE21 TSG and remote temperature by SBE38. Data from a flow meter is also recorded. Digital depth data is recorded from a Simrad EK60 sounder. Data from the Integrated Marine Observing System sensors (IMOS) are also included. The sensors are port and starboard radiometers and pyranometers, ultrasonic wind speed and direction; optical rain and rain rate. The Instrumentation report for this voyage includes instruments used and their serial numbers. Navigation, meteorological, thermosalinograph, IMOS and depth data are preliminary quality controlled by combining all data from hourly recorded files to 5 second values in a netCDF formatted file. Data are recorded at 5 second intervals. Near real-time data is available via the link below. This dataset will be processed and archived within the CSIRO Oceans & Atmosphere Data Centre in Hobart. Data is available in 5sec intervals in NetCDF, 10 sec and 5 min intervals in ascii csv format. Additional information regarding this dataset is contained in the cruise report for this voyage and/or the data processing report.Progress Code: completedMaintenance and Update Frequency: asNeededStatement: Data source: original field data. The optical rain gauge sensor (which provides 'opticalRainRate', 'opticalRain') was not installed during this voyage. Full description

This record describes Underway (UWY) data collected from the Marine National Facility RV Investigator Voyage IN2015_V01 titled "IMOS Southern Ocean Time Series Automated Moorings for Climate and Carbon Cycle Studies Southwest of Tasmania". The voyage took place between the 21st and the 30th of March, 2015 (local time) departing from Hobart and sailing to the south-west of Tasmania (47 S, 142 E) and returning to Hobart.

Instrumentation and sensors:
The standard Underway (continuously recorded) dataset included Navigation (NAV), Thermosalinograph (TSG) and Meteorological (MET) data. NAV data includes GPS (Global Positioning System) measurements of latitude, longitude, ship's direction, speed and depth. MET data includes atmospheric temperature, humidity and pressure, wind speed and direction, and incident radiation intensity. Data from "IMOS" (Integrated Marine Observing System) sensors include port and starboard radiometers and pyranometers, wind speed; rain and rainrate. Depth data is no longer processed as part of the underway data set. The non QCed data is available in the underway data. The QCed depth data can be obtained from processed GSM dataset (centre beam) for this voyage. Please refer to the full list of attributes below.

Navigation data was acquired using the Seapath 330 plus position and reference unit, which is also differentially corrected by data from the FUGRO marine cstar 3610 receiver.

Additional information regarding this dataset is contained in the cruise report for this voyage and/or the data processing report.
