Full description

This record describes Hydrology (HYD) data collected from the Marine National Facility RV Investigator voyage IN2015_V03 titled Submesoscale processes - billows and eddies - along the productive shelf by the East Australian Current, departing Brisbane on the 3rd June and arriving in Sydney on the 18th June, 2015.
Hydrology samples were collected from niskin bottles sampled at various depths during a Conductivity-Temperature-Depth (CTD) deployment. Parameters analysed were salinity, dissolved oxygen, phosphate, silicate, nitrate plus nitrite and ammonia. CTD temperature and CTD salinity are also reported in this dataset. This dataset has been archived within the CSIRO O&A Information and Data Centre (IDC) in Hobart. Additional information regarding this dataset is contained in the voyage report for this voyage and data processing report. Please see documentation and data links.

Please note that quality flags for this dataset were modified on May 27, 2019 (see details in the Lineage section below).

Statement: Data source: original field data. Processing_comments: Nutrients were analysed using segmented flow SEAL AA3 and results calculated with HYPRO 3.27, units are µmol/L. Methods are modified from long standing nutrient methods; Ammonia-Kerouel & Aminot; NOx-Grasshoff; Phosphate-Murphy & Riley; Silicate-Hagar et al. Salinities were analysed using a Guildline 8400B Autosal Lab salinometer and OSIL software, units are salinity units. Dissolved Oxygens were analysed using Scripps UV titrator and software, units measured in ml/L and converted to µmol/L. All data was processed with HYPRO 3.27 and final processing with HYPRO 4.0. Note that nutrient data is now provided to 3 decimal places in the CSV file due to new instrumentation and improved detection limit. Previously values below detection limit were set to zero or <0.02, these values are now displayed as the measured value. On 2016/06/01 the link to the data link to the NetCDF file was removed temporarily from this metadata record due to a review of the data processing that yields those NetCDF files. The link will be restored when the review is passed. On 2019/05/27 the downloadable files were replaced. Changes are: The flags 69 and 79 were changed in the nc files to 0. The flag 79 within csv file was changed to 0. Flag 69 was put against the following for NH4 within the nc file. Dep 6 rp 2 Dep 13 rp 13 Dep 30 rp 2 Dep 32 rp 2 The uwy csv file was also updated with the flag 79 changed to 0. Also any negative values or values less than “method detection limit” were changed to 63. The following nc files had changes: NC dep 16 rp 4 the NOx value was changed from 30.5 to 30.17 NC dep 16 rp 1 the Silicate value was changed from 74.04 to 73.03
