The primary objective of voyage IN2023_T01 is the safe and timely transit of RV Investigator from Sydney to Hobart in preparation for future voyages leaving the port of Hobart. The transit is direct with no operational time available for science operations unless underway at full speed. Any available operational time to be spent on opportunistic seafloor mapping – while keeping Expected Time of Arrival in Hobart on track as the primary objective. The voyage took place between November 2, 2023 and November 5, 2023 (AEST), departing from Sydney and returning to Hobart.Unfortunately, no EK60/EK80 data was recorded on this transit voyage. The drop keel had a locking pin issue at the start of the voyage in Sydney and it was decided by the master and ships crew to keep the port drop keel flush with hull. At full transit speed, and not at it's intended position for any beneficial data, GSM felt that there was a high potential risk in damaging the EK60/EK80 transducers, and therefore did not turn on the sounders during the entire voyage.Additional information regarding this dataset is contained in the GSM data acquisition and processing report. Full description

This record describes scientific split-beam echosounder data collected on the RV Investigator voyage IN2023_T01, titled 'Transit + Opportunistic Mapping + XBT AutoLauncher'. The voyage took place between November 2, 2023 and November 5, 2023 (AEST), departing from Sydney and returning to Hobart.

Unfortunately, no EK60/EK80 data was recorded on this transit voyage. The drop keel had a locking pin issue at the start of the voyage in Sydney and it was decided by the master and ships crew to keep the port drop keel flush with hull. At full transit speed, and not at it's intended position for any beneficial data, GSM felt that there was a high potential risk in damaging the EK60/EK80 transducers, and therefore did not turn on the sounders during the entire voyage.

Additional information regarding this dataset is contained in the GSM data acquisition and processing report. Additional data products may be available on request.
