Full description

This record describes scientific split-beam echosounder data collected on the RV Investigator voyage IN2018_T02, 'Harmful Algal Blooms and their long term sediment record in East Coast Tasmanian waters' which departed Brisbane on the 14th May 2018 and returned to Hobart on the 21st May 2018. The overall objective of this transit voyage was aimed at addressing the following research topics:1. Harmful Algal Blooms and their long term sediment record in East Coast Tasmanian waters; 2. Spatial and temporal variability in the distribution and abundance of seabirds and 3. Remote-ROAM: mobile modelling sea trials.

The Simrad EK60 split beam echosounders [12], 18, 38, 70 120, 200 and 333 kHz were used to acquire acoustic backscatter data to a range of 1500 m, between Brisbane and Hobart. All frequencies were logged for the extent of the voyage. The frequencies were set to passive for the periods during the voyage.
