Full description

This record describes the CTD data collected on Investigator voyage IN2024_V04, titled: "Linking East Australian Current dynamics and submarine canyon geomorphology to marine ecosystem hotspots." The voyage took place between June 07, 2024 and July 03, 2024 (AEST), departing from Sydney and returning to Brisbane.

Data for 116 CTD deployments were acquired using the Sea-Bird SBE911 CTD unit #25 (S/N 1354), fitted with 36 twelve-litre bottles on the rosette sampler. Sea-Bird-supplied calibration factors were used to compute the pressures and preliminary conductivity values. CSIRO-supplied calibrations were applied to the temperature data. The data were subjected to automated QC to remove spikes and out-of-range values.

Yoyo CTDs were undertaken at some stations, where CTD casts were performed consecutively at the same station to observe changes in the water column, without bottles fired or water samples taken. These casts were calibrated for conductivity and oxygen as per the calibrations determined from the samples taken throughout the voyage.

Altimeter, PAR, chlorophyll-a, and Turbidity sensors were also installed on the auxiliary A/D channels of the CTD. A Lowered ADCP (LADCP), MicroRider, two Moana sensors and SVX2 Sound Velocity probe were also mounted on the CTD rosette for some casts. These additional instruments acquired data separately and are not included in the CTD datasets.

The collected data were processed (quality-controlled), and subsequently archived by the CSIRO National Collections and Marine Infrastructure (NCMI) Information and Data Centre (IDC).

Additional information regarding this dataset may be contained in the Voyage Summary and the Data Processing Report.
