Brief description Diabetes related kidney disease is the leading cause of kidney failure. Individuals with this disorder often require dialysis or transplantation. Our current treatment strategies fail to prevent or cure this disorder. Thus, novel treatments are urgently needed. In the present study, I will investigate the role of the pro-oxidant enzyme Nox5 in the kidney damage seen in diabetes by using a mouse model of diabetic kidney disease and will validate Nox5 as promising targets for the treatment of DN.
