Brief description Compared to normal cells, cancer cells utilise a different mixture of fuels to sustain high rates of growth. Thus a better understanding of cancer metabolism will uncover vulnerabilities that can be exploited in the clinic. We have discovered a molecular mechanism that coordinates two key metabolic processes essential for cancer cell survival. Our project involves colon cancer but because this mechanism is present in many other cancer types we anticipate broad significance of our work.
